SEA Undersea

Sharks seem to be the fish every diver wants to see. Fortunately, the ones you're most likely to see around Southeast Asia and the Caribbean are fairly tame, and generally won't attack divers.

Whitetip Reef Shark

Scientific name: Triaenodon obesus

The whitetip is one of the most common reef sharks, that you'll find throughout tropical waters. I've seen them at Tioman as well as several spots around Komodo. It is not aggressive and will generally swim away from you.

Nurse Shark

Scientific name: Ginglymostoma cirratum

These are quite common around Cozumel, where the photo was taken.
