I probably wouldn't have noticed these guys if they weren't sheltering in this beautiful anemone. They really stand out against the white tentacles, and while they look like clownfishes, they aren't nearly as territorial. Adults will leave the shelter of the anemone and feed along the reef.

Scientific name: Amphiprion perideraion

The pink clownfish looks more brown or orange to me underwater. It is quite common throughout the reefs of Southeast Asia.

Thanks to that movie, these guys are very popular, but they can be hard to find. I've encountered them most around Tioman in Malaysia.

There are so many types of clownfish that look similar, I'm not sure I got this one right. However, I think the yellow tail makes this a Clark's rather than the other possibilities.

These particular clownfish seem to have a special affinity for bulbous anemones. That's the only kind I've ever seen them in.

The exact coloration of this species varies by sex and location. The one pictured is from the area of Bangka island in North Sulawesi.
